Wind Ensemble

Wind Ensemble
Our wind ensemble is our premier ensemble. The wind ensemble is audition only. For the last ten years our winter concert has been centered (sometimes loosely) around a theme. We have performed the Rhapsody In Blue (with professional accompanist), The Nutcracker Suite, Steven Reineke's Symphony No. 1, The Epic of Gilgamesh, Pictures at an Exhibition, The West Side Story, and The Lord of the Rings. When the winter concert is over we move into festival season and change our literature selection. We hope to see you at the concert!

Uniform

The uniform for the Wind Ensemble is a Two Button Notched Collar Black Tuxedo with Striped Pants, a White Pleated Shirt, Wing Tip Collar, and a Black Bow Tie.

Events

All Wind Ensemble students are part of the Pep/Marching bands and are required to perform at their selected events. (See the Calendar for Details) The Wind Ensemble performs at the Winter and Spring Concerts. This group is also required to perform at our Veterans Day Assembly and at LSHS Graduation.

Trips

Each year our entire program heads to the Tri-Cities (Pasco) to attend the Columbia Basin College Festival. At this festival the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, and both Jazz Ensembles perform and are adjudicated.

Fees

There is a $70 yearly fee for band that goes towards, among other things, uniforms, guests, costs of camps, and band events.

The program also travels to the Columbia Basin College Festival on a yearly basis in lieu of any more costly trips. This trip is traditionally between $220 and $280 per student. Limited scholarships are available.
