Jazz Band 1

Our Viking Jazz Ensemble 1 is our premier ensemble. This group travels to a large number of festivals during the year. We attend the Auburn Riverside, Clark College, Central Washington University, Pasco (CBC), Bellevue College, and Commencement Bay Jazz Festivals, among others. This group meets every morning before school at 6:15am and has received numerous honors and awards in the last decade including 3rd place at the prestigious Clark College Jazz Festival, Sweepstakes Winner at Newport's Jazz Festival, 1st place at Columbia Basin Colleges Festival, 4th place at Bellevue College's Festival, and Sweepstakes at Commencement Bay's Jazz Festival. Uniform

The uniform for Viking Jazz Ensemble 1 is a Two Button Notched Collar Black Tuxedo with Striped Pants, a White Pleated Shirt, Wing Tip Collar, and a Black Bow Tie. 

Events

All Jazz 1 students are required to perform at their selected events. (See the Calendar for Details). With the level of commitment and execution that this group requires, it is extremely difficult if no impossible to perform without all members present. On top of competitive festivals Jazz 1 performs at the Winter Concert and again at the LSSD Jazz Nite.

Trips

Of the above listed trips only going to Central Washington University and Clark College takes us very far abroad. While central is just over the mountains and a day trip, Clark College is in Vancouver, Washington and is an over night trip. 

Fees

Traditionally the Jazz 2 Fee is around $250. This includes all hotel costs, transportation costs, and entrance fees for Auburn, Clark, CWU, BC, and Commencement Bay. It does not include our Columbia Basin College Festival.
